Asociación Méxicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios, A.C. (AMPI), or the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals, the Mexican national real estate professional organization, was formed in 1956. With over 63 chapters nationwide, plus an International Section, AMPI is affiliated with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in the U.S.A., the Canadian Real Estate Association, FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, and with the newly formed International consortium of Real Estate Associations, ICREA. AMPI Puerto Peñasco Chapter 51 was formed in 2005.
The State of Sonora was the first state in Mexico to require real estate agents to be licenced, and AMPI coordinates with the State to offer education for licenses and license renewal to the real estate professionals in Puerto Peñasco.
In 2009 AMPI ushered a new era into Puerto Penasco real estate with the introduction of the Flex MLS database, which not only provided the first multiple listing service in the area, but also created a real data base for the purpose of allowing brokers and agents to truly study the market, assist clients with information, and track statistics for record keeping purposes. AMPI agents work under a strict code of ethics, and constantly strive to improve real estate practices to the benefit of member professionals and their clients.
